NWA Secures Dismissal of Putative Multibillion Suit By Alleged MetaMask Founder Against ConsenSys And Its Innovators

NWA secured the dismissal of a suit brought by Joel Dietz against ConsenSys Software Inc., ConsenSys AG, ConsenSys founder Joe Lubin, and ConsenSys developers Aaron Davis and Dan Finlay.

In his lawsuit, Dietz asserted claims for theft of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract, among others, alleging that he was a cofounder of ConsenSys’s popular crypto wallet MetaMask and entitled to billions of dollars in damages.

Following a three-hour hearing, and several rounds of briefing, the Superior Court of California dismissed Dietz’s suit with prejudice. The Court also dismissed certain defendants on personal jurisdiction grounds.

We are gratified by the result and are proud to have represented ConsenSys Software Inc., ConsenSys AG, and their innovators in this action.

The NWA team included Tibor Nagy, Greg Wolfe, Patrick McGee, David Moosmann, and Jacob Goldenberg.

The order dismissing the case on the merits can be found here and the personal jurisdiction order can be found here.

From the moment we accept a case, we focus on the end result.
